Letter from the Delta Beta President:
Brothers, Family, and Friends,
The excitement that the Delta Beta Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha here at BGSU feels can not be expressed simply. The 2008-2009 year was arguably one of the most successful years that Delta Beta has seen in its history. The greatest part of our success is the desire through our motto S.L.A.G. (Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, and Gentlemen) to become better men throughout all aspects of a True Pike life. Among other exciting achievements, Delta Beta was able to represent both on campus and nationally with full force. To name a few, winning the All-Sports Cup, Philanthropy Cup, Campus Involvement Award, Community Service Award, and the Order of Omega Award were only a few of the astonishing things that Delta Beta did this previous year.
Nationally, we were able to not only bring over 25 men to events throughout the year; we were able to come home with some precious hardware. Having come home with only won award in the past twenty years, we have always felt as the underdog nationally. Our mission was to bring Delta Beta back with the top dogs nationally. Although we have much work to be done, Delta Beta is on top to become one of the greats. At the national awards banquet, we were able to win five awards, which include, the 25 Man Commitment Award to Pike University, Level 1 Recruitment Recognition, Interior Project of the Year for International Work Day, and the Chapter Excellence Award (an award Delta Beta has come home without since 1953). We came home happy, but hungry for more.
For the 2009 year, we have some big things planned. Among other events, here are some of the more important events coming up:
Late August/September – Legacy Week
October 3rd – Homecoming against Ohio @ 4pm
We hope that among these events, you are able to join us to fellowship in our brotherhood. Get excited for the Delta Beta Chapter this year, if not ever. Our men are committed to making Delta Beta more successful than ever before. As President, I personally want to thank all the alumni who have helped out to get Delta Beta back where it is now, whether it was through a generous donation, or a good story to the undergrads. We appreciate everything that has been done and only ask that you continue your efforts as well as working harder to get other alumni involved.
Congratulations to Delta Beta for the 2008-2009! Now, it is time to continue our success and take that next step.
Yesterday is gone forever
Tomorrow is yet to be
The destiny of Pi Kappa Alpha
Rest today with thee
Yours in Phi Phi Kappa Alpha,
Reuben Rodriguez
